Survival News: The Latest on the London Attacks

Survival News: The Latest on the London Attacks

We mentioned on Thursday the developing story about a potential terrorist attack in London, and you’ve probably heard by now that it was indeed to be a terror attack plotted out by a radicalized English national. Khalid Masood, 52, was killed in the attack after plowing through crowds of pedestrians on the Westminster Bridge before trying to crash into the barrier of the House of Parliament, stabbing a police officer before being gunned down himself. So far, five people have died as a result of injuries from the attack, either on impact or in the hospital. The fifth victim died Thursday […]

Survival News: Attack in London One Year After Brussels Bombing

Survival News: Attack in London One Year After Brussels Bombing

Exactly one year ago today, Brussels, the cosmopolitan capital of Belgium, home to the EU and NATO headquarters, experienced a devastating, violent, terror attack that ripped the city apart. In two separate bombings, the city’s main airport and a busy, rush hour subway station were struck, killing 32 and injuring over 300. The attack came in the midst of a heated debate over the security risks of mass migration from war-torn, Middle Eastern countries, and were sadly confirming to those who had been concerned. Since this tragic event, Europe has continued to see rising crime rates, several terror attacks in […]

Survival News: Loretta Lynch Calls for Violence?

Survival News: Loretta Lynch Calls for Violence?

Through all the chaos and upheaval in the wake of 2016 presidential election results, one theme has been constant: Democratic leadership feels quite the sense of urgency. We’ve been following the response to Donald Trump’s election and subsequent inauguration here simply because any whiff of civil unrest is something for survivalists to look out for. Whether you love Trump or hate him, voted Democrat or don’t vote at all, one thing seems to be clear: people are upset, scared, angry, and have been hinting at, if not outright calling for, violent resistance in the face of a Trump presidency. This […]

What Happens When You Block Traffic (Video)

What Happens When You Block Traffic (Video)

While it’s always great to see anyone on the political spectrum taking advantage of their first amendment rights, an unfortunate tactic of many protestors over the last year or so has been to block traffic. This video of Portland protestors being swarmed by riot police is an important reminder of what can happen if an impassioned demonstration turns into blocked traffic. I think people are often just fueled by everyone’s enthusiasm and mob mentality kicks in, but it’s a dangerous reality of protesting that peaceful demonstrations can quickly turn into something that will land you with your face in the pavement […]

Continued Threats of Riots

Continued Threats of Riots

Maybe one day we will again have something resembling law-and-order here in America, but it certainly won’t come before Friday.  There have been online postings in dozens of cities that offer as much as $2,500 to anyone willing and able to disrupt the inauguration of president-elect Donald Trump this Friday.  Though the inauguration itself will take place in Washington D.C., the “disruptions” are not likely to be so localized.  As we saw, following the election, there were riots and violent attacks on perceived Trump supporters across the nation.  If you are living in areas that were affected by this […]

Personal Safety In Riot Situations (Video)

Personal Safety In Riot Situations (Video)

OK, maybe I’m being a little paranoid for posting more about that, but the anti-Trump protests are turning into riots in some major urban areas. Hopefully, they will die out over time, but I don’t think we can be too prepared, especially if you live in a major city like San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, LA, Chicago or New York. I’ve always had a bit of a bone to pick with violent protestors because most of the people who end up suffering from their violent agression are not the people who the rioters are angry with, and opportunistic young people tend […]

5 Safety Tips for Riots

5 Safety Tips for Riots

In light of current events, we thought it might be a good time to discuss some basic safety tips for riots. This is not necessarily for long-term survival during civil unrest, but you can read about that here.  This is basic advice for staying safe if you find yourself caught up in a violent protest or full-on riot. Even protests with the most noble intentions can snowball into something dangerous, and given this seems to be a growing trend in major American cities this year, it’s important to think about what you would do if you got caught in the […]

The Off-Grid Room

The Off-Grid Room

I was recently browsing some of my favorite survival blogs and saw an article that I thought was brilliant. It was on the site PreppersSurvive.com and it was about “the Off-Grid room“. I was thinking it was about a room that you kept all your preps in or something, but when I read the article it got me very excited. The blogger got the idea from Fernando Aguirre’s book, The Modern Survival Manual: Surviving the Economic Collapse, in which the author described how his whole family would sleep and live in one room of their house during the economic collapse in Argentina […]

How to Prepare for Martial Law

How to Prepare for Martial Law

Talks of the possibility of martial law get more and more popular each year, and whether or not it is going to happen, given the drastic effect it will have on civilian life in the United States it’s certainly a scenario worth anticipating and preparing for. What is martial law? Martial law is when regular laws are suspended and replaced by military law. The military temporarily takes over the government and curfews are imposed. It usually happens in the event of a massive disaster, enemy invasion or wide-scale civil unrest. What can you do?  In many ways, there’s only so […]

Protecting Yourself During Civil Unrest

Protecting Yourself During Civil Unrest

As recent events have taught anyone paying attention, natural disasters are not the only thing one needs to prepare for when considering survival.  If you are living in an urban area you could easily find yourself in a riot and complete lawlessness.  This could leave you without power and water in your home, and in danger if you chose to leave your home for basic supplies for everyday life (not to mention, even if you make to Walgreen’s, it might be on fire already). So as always one should have a supply of canned foods or freeze dried foods, water […]
