Survival News: China Warns of New Arms Race

Survival News: China Warns of New Arms Race

Earlier this week, the US began a large-scale misslie defense operation in South Korea, causing China to condemn the activities as well as warn of a potential arms race between North Korea and its southern neighbor and allies. The announcement from the US came after North Korea launched four missiles into Japanese waters, which state television said was a drill to attack American bases in Japan. This drill was performed shortly after North Korea announced they would block Malaysian citizens from leaving the country in response to the Malaysian government accusing North Korean citizens of using a nerve agent to kill Jim […]

Survival News: Trump Tweets on Wiretapping

Survival News: Trump Tweets on Wiretapping

You have probably heard by now that over the weekend, President Trump tweeted that Obama had been wiretapping his campaign headquarters last year, right before the election in November. This caused quite a stir in the media, as you can imagine because of the accusation that a sitting president would wiretap a presidential hopeful are very grave indeed. Not to mention, not everyone was sure why Trump felt confident making such a bold statement when there doesn’t seem to be any indication of it. Remember Trump’s statement about Sweden? Well, in this case, it seems to be very similar. While […]

Survival News: What’s Really Happening in Sweden?

Survival News: What’s Really Happening in Sweden?

Riots erupted in a largely immigrant neighborhood of Stockholm, Sweden Monday night, resulting in fires, damage to private property, and looting. It is reported that the riots were in response to police clashes with suspected criminals in the area, and, mirroring the current riots in Paris and the riots we’ve had in the last few years here in the US, those involved in the upheaval seemed to target their violence and rage towards police officers. Rocks were thrown at officers responding to the riot, who in turn fired warning shots in an attempt to quell the chaos. Sweden has welcomed […]

Survival News: Mike Flynn Resignation and the Possible Coup in the Works

Survival News: Mike Flynn Resignation and the Possible Coup in the Works

Well, the media is going crazy over the recent announcement of the resignation of Mike Flynn as National Security Advisor. It has definitely been the story of the week, by far, and many in the media are confidently declaring we will soon have impeachment, constitutional crisis, and a new president (they’re hoping Hillary, but it doesn’t actually work like that). When you cut through all the noise, what’s clear is this: General Mike Flynn, previously appointed as National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump, resigned on Sunday evening. He wrote a letter explaining that, as is customary for recent National […]

Survival News: Fukushima Update

Survival News: Fukushima Update

It’s always been hard to get an accurate picture of what’s really going on at the Fukushima Daichi nuclear plant in Japan since its cooling system was damaged and failed in the 2011 tsunami. The Japanese government is notoriously tight-lipped about the nuclear disaster, but time to time we hear updates on what we’ve all assumed was going on: a six years (and counting) nuclear disaster with no foreseeable positive outcome. The technology simply doesn’t exist to properly contain the radiation leaking from that plant, and to this day, 300 tons of radiated water is still being dumped into the […]

Survival News: Oroville Dam Evacuation

Thousands of Northern California residents of the town of Oroville have been evacuated in recent days due to an anticipated failure of an axuilary spillway in the Oroville Dam on the Feather River. After years of severe drought, California has been hammered with rain and snow this winter and the previously drained lake is now hundreds of feet above sea level. The auxiliary was opened to try to relieve some of the water, but a hole has appeared and has been widening and residents in the path of the spillway have now been evacuated. What is troubling is that it is […]
