Radicalized French National Shot Dead in Paris Airport

Radicalized French National Shot Dead in Paris Airport

Hours after shooting a police officer in the face, a French man of North African descent was shot dead in Paris’ Orly Airport after seizing a security officer’s gun. The attacker, 39-year-old Ziyed Ben Belgacem, was wanted for questioning by police, and earlier in the day had opened fire on a police officer in a suburb of Paris during an identity check. He then abandoned his vehicle, which was found later, and hijacked a woman’s car at gunpoint. At some point before being shot dead, he texted his father to tell him he’d shot at a police officer. His father and […]

Survival News: Wikileaks’ Vault 7

The internet has been abuzz with the latest info dump from Wikileaks, code-named Vault 7 by the notorious hacking organization. It is the largest ever publication of confidential documents by Wikileaks. The first part of the Vault 7 series, called “Year Zero”, reveals thousands of documents from a high-level security network based in CIA headquarters in Langley, Virgina. These documents reveal the extent of the CIA’s global hacking system, which includes malware and “weaponized exploits” against a number of European and American products’ operating systems, including iOS, Android, Windows, and even Samsung SmartTVs. Wikileak’s press release goes on to explain that […]

Armed Robbery, Nobody Hurt

Armed Robbery, Nobody Hurt

This video contains the surveillance footage from multiple cameras at a convenience store that gets held up.  Luckily, despite the use of a firearm, nobody involved gets hurt, including the armed robber.  There are lessons that we can learn from this video, so that if we are placed in a similar situation, we too can come out unharmed.   As always, the first lesson is situational awareness. It is common knowledge that convenient stores are frequently robbed, if you are in or around one you need to be aware that you are at an elevated risk and keep your […]

Small Dogs for Security

Small Dogs for Security

They say it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.  These two short videos offer evidence that this adage is true. In the first video, you see a man that is bold enough to attempt a home invasion in broad daylight run for the hills when a 8 pound Yorkie confronts him.  Whether he has a phobia of small dogs, or whether he knew that the homeowners and neighbors were now altered to his presence from the dog’s barking, the result is the same, he ran and the […]

Safety Considerations While Answering the Door

Safety Considerations While Answering the Door

I recently watched a news broadcast that featured a story where a woman came to a man’s door asking to use the phone because she claimed to have car problems.  He ended up sending her away, only to have to shoot at her and her accomplice when they came back to rob him.  The man and those in his house were uninjured, the woman was arrested, and her accomplice died.  Things went well for this man, but after watching the story (I watched it online) I was targeted with numerous other videos in which people did not fare so well.  […]

How to Make a Stealth Shelf (Video)

How to Make a Stealth Shelf (Video)

I recently came across this very cool video on how to make a “stealth shelf” in your home. It is a great way to hide cash, jewelry, valuable medical supplies, weapons, whatever. It’s a great idea to have as much of your survival stash as possible hidden in various places to reduce the likelihood of looters or FEMA agents (half-kidding) will be able to seize all of your goods. And I love the idea of making one since the price of a stealth shelf and similar furniture can run really high!     Please follow and like us:

Self-Defense From A Vehicle

Self-Defense From A Vehicle

People have a tendency to feel safe in their vehicles in a similar way to feeling safe in your home.  And while being in a vehicle has its safety advantages in a defensive scenario, it is no fortress on wheels.  When facing an attack in your vehicle, knowing its strengths and vulnerabilities will greatly impact our ability to defend ourselves and our loved ones. Speed is not always dangerous When in your vehicle you are always at a greater risk of being attacked when your vehicle is stopped.  If you are coming to a stop light, allow yourself enough room between […]
