Most people prepping and gearing up for survival know just how important it is to have a good supply of food on hand. However, even though they know they need a lot of food, they may not truly understand exactly how to go about doing it the right way. Let’s look at a few of the most common storage mistakes so you don’t make them.
One of the first big mistakes is buying and storing food that your family doesn’t actually like. Even though we might be getting a good deal on food, and even though you realize that in tough times you will you have to eat, it’s nice to have stuff you like to! Figure out what types of food your family likes to eat the most, and then stock up on those.
In addition, you have to rotate the food storage. Even though some food can a last long time, you want to make sure that nothing is going beyond the expiration date. Always use the old food that you have and replace it with newer food for the storage.
You should also try to get a variety of different types of food. This is because you need to have a balanced diet. Instead of only storing the food, you should also learn how to grow some of your own food. Growing your own food will help with creating a balanced diet.
In addition to storing food, you have to make sure that you store water as well. Even if you live in an area where there is plenty of water through rain, rivers, and lakes, you never know what could happen. There is a chance that the water supply that you are counting on could be contaminated. Make sure you have plenty of water available.
