The 4 Best Survival Foods to Stockpile Now

If you’re preparing to survive in an emergency or disaster situation, you’re likely starting to think about what kinds of foods you should be stockpiling. After all, you need foods that will:stockpiling

• Fit in your pantry.
• Not go bad after a few weeks or months.
• Give you the nutrients you need to survive.
So which foods should you stock up on and which ones should you pass up? Here are a few of the very best survival foods that you should start collecting now for a better chance of survival later.

Canned Tuna and Salmon

Canned fish like these are high in protein and omega-3 fats. The cans are compact and light, and you can eat your fish right out of them without any need to cook it or keep it refrigerated.

Canned Fruits Vegetables

Avoid more acidic fruits and vegetables, like tomatoes, as they won’t last as long. Go for green beans, pears, and peaches for the most nutrient-rich options. Remember, though, that canned produce can be heavy. You might want to switch out some of your canned fruit for dried fruit.

Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is also high in protein and good fats. It’s highly caloric and very nutrient dense, which means that you can pack a lot of fuel with you in very little space with peanut butter. Plus, when stored in a cool, dry place, it can last up to five years or more.

Brown Rice

Brown rice is inexpensive, keeps for years, and is rich in complex carbohydrates. Plus, if you’re low on meats but you have beans, you can create complete proteins by serving them with rice.

Keep these and other low-cost, non-perishable, high-energy foods around now, and you won’t go hungry in a disaster situation later.

  1. Brown rice is good for months, not years..becomes rancid much quicker than white rice

  2. Brown rice does NOT last for years. It is live food that spoils soon after the “best by/sell by” date. White rice is almost nutrition free but it lasts for years. Rotate brown rice regularly and don’t store more than you can use in time.

  3. hi there, you’ re wrong about brown rice!! it does not keep well at all and goes rancid, even when kept cold. SOME white rice keeps well, but not all kinds. I have had good experience with Basmati rice.
    Kind regards!

  4. Thanks 4info, I really do like what you mentioned and agree. There are somethings I need to go over in my pantry as well. Thanks again.

  5. Good advice on what to start your preparations for any crisis that may befall us as U.S. citizens. My recommendation to add to this is a really good book to have. “The Lost Ways” , compiled and edited by Claude Davis. Google it! It sells for $22.00 and with it comes three other books that are very well worth having.
I’ve been prepping since I retired in ’93 and have seen too much of what is happening to our country for the last 23 years. It mimics too much of other country’s I’ve seen collapse due to corruption or monetary devaluation. I have fought and bled for my country and I will continue to support our constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Just point out which ones are which.
