You are a prepper, or at least you think you are. You’ve been acquiring knowledge regarding survival in a variety of situations, and you have been collecting the gear and goods that you need. You have what you feel is the right equipment, and you believe that you are ready for anything that might come your way. However, you might not be. If all of your knowledge so far has been theory, then you might find that being in a real survival scenario is much different.
What can you do to remedy this? The answer is simple. Actually put some of those skills you have read about to the test in the real world. Naturally, you want to do this in a safe manner so you and others are not injured. However, you should find some very simple ways to practice many of your skills.
For example, if you feel that you will be doing a lot of hunting in a survival situation, get your hunting license and learn to hunt for real right now. You know that in most survival situations, you’re going to need to make fire. Learn how to do it now with several different fire starting methods.
Take some time to think about all of the different things are going to need to learn. You will need to know first aid, how to fix things, garden, self-defense skills, and so much more. In addition, you need to learn how to get into the right mindset and to keep positive in a survival scenario. The only way to develop that survival mindset is by actually practicing the skills you will need when it comes down to real survival. That will give you the peace of mind needed to know that you can survive any situation.
