Even though you might have everything you need as a prepper and survivalist, that doesn’t mean you are prepared to survive. That’s why it is so important to practice bugging out and moving from one place to another with a full pack. It needs to be as realistic as possible, so this means no stopping at fast food joints on the way to your bug out location. Everyone involved needs to treat it as a drill.
The practice will allow you to have a better idea of how quickly you are able to get from Point A to Point B. However, you need to keep in mind that when you are bugging out for real, things are likely to go much slower since you will need to contend with other people on the streets. If it takes you three hours to get to the bug out location, double it and this will provide you with a more realistic expectation of how long it will take.
Make sure the practice is fun though. Once you get to your destination, you’ve completed the drill. At that point, you can turn it into a camping trip and have a good time.
One of the other things you will learn when you practice your bug out is whether you and the rest of the people in your group are physically prepared for bugging out. If you find that doing things is a bit harder than you anticipated, it’s time that you acted. You should implement a “survival workout plan” to help you get into better shape so you can survive rather than be a burden.
Practicing your bug out is not a waste of time. It will give you valuable information you need when it comes to understanding just where you stand when it comes to survival.
