When you are new to prepping, it is quite easy to be overwhelmed by all the things you need to do. It can be difficult to know where to begin and what you should be doing to increase your readiness for whatever comes your way. The following are some simple tips you can use to get a better handle on the situation.
Learn something new every day. Knowledge is your friend and you want to add to that knowledge as often as possible. However, you can’t rely only on skills gleaned from the web or from books. You need to practice the things you learn so you know how to do them when push comes to shove. Some of the skill areas where you should strive to learn include first aid, hunting, self-defense, gardening, and water collection and purification.
Get into shape. Too many preppers have knowledge but they don’t have the physical capability to do anything with it. You need to make sure you can walk the walk… without getting winded.
Create a bug and survival plan for your area. Include family members and friends who are prepping with you and make sure everyone knows and understands the plan. In fact, it’s a good idea to practice the plan just to make sure everyone understands how it will work, where to meet, and what to bring.
Gather the items you need. This includes the food, ammo, weapons, medicine and other items you and your loved ones will need to survive. Remember that you can go slowly too, so don’t break the bank trying to get everything you need at once.
Now that you have these tips to get started, you are well on your way to improving your survival skills and increasing your preparedness. Soon, you will be ready for anything!
