When planting a survival garden, you’ve probably figured out already that you probably won’t be able to sustain your family with some basil and kale plants. While fresh herbs and greens will be great to have in a survival situation, to get crucial food calories, you’re going to need something with a bit more heft.
One of my favorite YouTube channels, An American Homestead, shared one of their survival secrets: artichoke. I would have personally never thought about this little-known survival crop as something that could sustain you in a disaster, but they make a great case for it, as well as explain how they grow it, and how you can too.
