In most street fights and assaults, at some point, your opponent will try to dominate you by grabbing a hold of you or your clothing. If they succeed in establishing a solid grip on your collar, hair, or your wrist, they will be able to dictate your movement and force you into a compromised position that you will have a hard time defending against blows from. If you have a working knowledge of defensive wrist lock techniques you will be able to break their control, dominate their position, and possibly even finish the fight in a brutal fashion by breaking their fingers and wrists.
